Alex Grosserode Earns BSA Eagle Scout Award

On December 16, 2010 Alex Grosserode, son of Linda Grosserode and the late Randy Grosserode of Oakdale, earned the Boy Scout of America Eagle Scout Award. Alex is a member of the Neligh Troop #167.

Upon being awarded the Eagle Scout rank Alex successfully earned 35 merit badges. For his Eagle Scout project Alex painted a mural on the outdoor bathroom in the Oakdale village park. He received funds from the village of Oakdale city council. He then purchased  the supplies and organized the volunteers for the work parties. With the help of his volunteers which included his family, friends and members of his boy scout troop he was able to complete his project. On the west wall his mural has a profile of an eagle surrounded by a circle of stars with the words “Land of the Free and Home of the Brave” above the picture. On the east wall he painted a picture of the liberty bell and above the bell are the words “Let freedom ring”.

Alex is 16 years old and a sophomore at Elgin Public School. He is also active in school. His activities include track, football, wrestling, FFA, FCCLA, band, choir and one-act. Other activities he is involved in include 4-H, archery and youth council at church. His is an active member of his church, Our lady of Mount Caramel Catholic church, in Tilden.
