Funeral services for Frank J. Hecht of Tilden will be held Thursday, September 23, 2010 at 10:30 A.M. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Tilden. Reverend John Bro-heimer will officiate with burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by VFW Post 7603 and American Legion Post 170 of Tilden. 

Visitation will be Wednesday, September 22, 2010 from 4 to 6 P.M. at Brockhaus-Harlan Funeral Home and a 7 P.M. wake service at the church. 

Frank J. Hecht, son of Albert J. and Caroline (Rotter) Hecht, was born on February 22, 1925 in Tilden, Nebraska on the farm. He attended Bunker Hill School and graduated from Tilden High School Class of 1942 and then attended Wayne State College. 

He married Nancy Forge of Omaha on June 25, 1960 at St. Phillip Neri Catholic Church in Omaha. 

To this union eight children were born: Lisa, Mark, Paul, Anne, Emily, John, Sarah and Kathleen. 

The couple lived on the farm southwest of Tilden, where Frank farmed. Frank was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church and American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars in Tilden. His hobbies included home building, carpentry and building scaled replicas of antique machinery for show. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. 

He loved antique cars, animals and spending time with his family. 

Frank died on Sunday, September 19, 2010 at the age of 85, at Tilden Community Hospital. 

He is survived by the mother of his children, Nancy Hecht of Norfolk, NE; seven children and their families, Lisa (Paul) Mettler, Tara and Katie of Champaign, IL, Mark (Mary) Hecht, Ashley and Tristan of Tilden, NE, Paul (Stephanie) Hecht, Tucker of Tilden, NE, Anne (Jim) Meis, Justine, Jonathon and Marie of Elgin, Emily (Merle) Borer, Olivia and Jackson of Elgin, NE, John (Stacy) Hecht, Makinley and Isabella of Gretna, NE, Kathy (Scott) Margheim of Columbus, NE; and sister, Agnes Renner of Battle Creek, NE. 

He is preceded in death by his parents; one daughter in infancy; sister, Marion Wisch; and one brother in infancy.
