George H. Harsin

1921 – 2010

George Harvey Harsin, son of William and Effie (Roberts) Harsin was born July 12, 1921 in Spalding, NE. He attended school at a rural Wheeler County School.

George was united in marriage to Ann Schmeits in June 1945 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Elgin, NE. The couple made their home near Spalding, NE where he farmed until 1956 when they moved to the Elgin, NE area. George worked for Gail and Theresa Doran on the farm and at the sale barn and later worked for the Elgin Lumber Company for a couple of years and for a local farmer until he retired. 

George enjoyed playing cards, dancing, site-seeing, fishing and hunting. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.

George H. Harsin, 89 of Elgin, NE passed away on September 10, 2010 at his home. 

He is survived by special friend: Elma McLain; one son: Larry Harsin of Minden, NE; three daughters: Georgia Koenig and husband Bill of Omaha, NE; Mary Timblin and husband Virgil of Bee, NE; Patricia Boldt and husband Del of Upland, NE; one sister: Margery Cape of Lincoln, CA; 9 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

George was preceded in death by his parents, wife Ann, a brother Ray Harsin, and a sister Pearl Hawley.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at St. Boniface Catholic Chuch in Elgin, NE with Rev. Ross Burkhalter officiating and burial in the parish cemetery.  Condolences may be sent to the family at www.huffmanlevander.com.
