Creighton Upends Wolfpack 32 to 14 in Football Season Opener

ELGIN — Down by just six points at halftime, Elgin Public-Pope John couldn’t contain the Creighton Bulldogs’ potent ground game in the second half and fell 32 to 14.

“Our team gave a great effort in the game,” Coach Carlie Wells said about the Wolfpack. “We learned some things about ourselves and the team. I feel confident that we can make the necessary steps to improve. I know our players and coaches will work hard this week to become a better team.”

It marked the first game for the Wolfpack while the Bulldogs were playing their second game and it showed at times..

Having switched from 11-man to 8-man football this year, Creighton brought back a wealth of experience and had a size advantage against the Wolfpack. That size advantage wore down Wolfpack defenders, particularly in the second half.
