Kristine O. Henn

1917 – 2010

Kristine Oline Henn, the daughter of Ivar and Anna (Dyb) Week was born on August 17, 1917 northwest of Newman Grove, NE.  Kristine and her family were members of the Lutheran Church in Newman Grove.  She received her elementary education at rural schools near Newman Grove and Petersburg, and graduated from Petersburg High School in 1935.  

On May 12, 1935 Kristine was united in marriage to Marcellus “Sal” Henn at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Raeville, NE.   She was also baptized and confirmed into the Catholic Church.  In 1936 the couple moved to Los Angeles, CA until they returned to Petersburg in 1938.  They lived there for two years then moved to Pilger, NE.  Sal and Kristined then moved to a farm near Raeville where they lived for 22 years until moving to Petersburg in 1967.  Kristine volunteered at the Petersburg Libraray and worked at the Petersburg Lockers for many years.  In December of 2009 Kristine moved to The Willows Assisted Living in Neligh, NE.

Kristine was a member of the St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Raeville, NE and St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Petersburg, NE.  She was also a member of the Raeville Christian Mothers and the St. John’s Altar Society.

On July 28, 2010 Kristine passed away at the Antelope Memorial Hospital in Neligh at 92 years, 11 months, and 11 days of age.

She is survived by 8 children: Duane L. and wife Marguerite of McCook, NE; Marilyn J. Schrad and husband David of Petersburg, NE; Deanna R. Stokes and husband Walter of Petersburg, NE; Gerald L. and wife Mary Kay of Elgin, NE; Shirley M. Stuhr and husband Sylvester of Petersburg, NE; Richard M. and wife Veronica of Omaha, NE; Beverly E. Seier and husband Michael of Neligh, NE; and Jolene Daniels and husband Leslie of Petersburg, NE; 22 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; along with many other relatives and friends.

Kristine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Sal, son Norman Henn; 3 brothers: Inar, Norman, and Novar Week; 2 sisters: Alma Lang and Johanna Milan.

Funeral services were held Saturday, July 31, 2010, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Petersburg with Fr. Stan Schmit officiating. Burial will be at St. Bonaventure Catholic Cemetery. Honorary casketbearers were “Granddaughters” Janet Moon, Deb Hofman, Karla Rein, Maureen Henn, Amy Melville, Kelly Bode, Melissa Kaisershot, Karrie Fogleman, Shelli Thies, and Jaci Mach Casketbearers were “Grandsons” Mike Schrad, Russell Stokes, Greg Henn, Jeff Henn, Gary Stokes, Andy Seier and Lee Daniel.
