Clarence Joseph Zwingman

1922 – 2010

SALINAS, Ca. – Clarence Joseph Zwingman, age 87 passed into the loving arms of the Lord on February 12, 2010. All will miss his gentle way, loving smile and story telling with a chuckle.

He was born in Petersburg, Nebraska on April 24,1922. He served in the U.S. Navy as a machinist testing and repairing aircraft in the South Pacific during World War II. 

He married the love of his life, Margaret A. Spierkman, on February 5, 1945. They farmed and started their family in Nebraska before moving to Salinas, California in 1957 where he owned and operated Fertilizer Application Service until he retired in 1994; 

He was an avid baseball fan who never missed a game. He leaves us with many cherished memories in our hearts and minds.

 He was a member of St. Mary of the Nativity and Madonna Del Sasso Catholic Church Parish for 53 years and a member of SIRS #56.

 Clarence is survived by Margaret his beloved wife of sixty-five years, his children David (Barbara) Zwingman, Robert (Pam) Zwingman, Sharon (Wayne) Socha, Duane (Melody) Zwingman, Alice (Vince) Pellerin and Alan (Natalie) Zwingman, two sisters Katherine (Ray) Reistman and Dorothy (Darold) Henke, Twelve grandchildren and six ½ great grand children. 

 His parents Henry and Angelina Zwingman, brothers Anthony, Richard and Donald Zwingman, preceded him in death.

Visitation will be held Thursday, February 18, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.  The Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. at Struve and La Porte Funeral Chapel, 41 West San Luis St., Salinas, Ca. 93901

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 19, at 10 a.m., at Madonna Del Sasso Catholic Church, 320 East Laurel Dr., Salinas Ca. 93906

Burial will be at Queen of Heaven Cemetery. Reception at Madonna Church Hall after services at cemetery
