Six EPPJ Wrestlers Headed to State

Six Elgin Public-Pope John will begin their quest for glory Thursday afternoon at the NSAA State Wrestling Tournament.

To be held at the Qwest Center in Omaha, the ‘super six’ will face the best in Class D in the three-day tournament.

First round matches are as follows:

At 119 pounds, junior Sebastian Janssen (24-12) will face Jeremy Inderlied (30-1) from Dorchester.

Competing at 130 pounds, first time state qualifier Nathan Anderson (29-13), a junior, will face Jose Campos (34-9) from Hemingford.

Senior Beau Henn, competing at 152 pounds, will take a 29-5 record into his opening round match against Bryce Dibbern of Amherst (24-1). 

At 160 pounds, senior Nick Farmer (27-7) will square off in the opening round against Mitch Nuss of Sutton (31-10).

Returning state champion Dylan Heithoff will seek to defend his title at 189 pounds. A senior, Heithoff (36-3) will face Dillion Tiede of Elwood (21-11) in the opening round.

A sophomore, Jared Seier will make his first appearance at the state meet. Seier (26-13) will square off against Jason Church (42-4) of High Plains Community School.

The tournament finals will be televised Saturday afternoon on NET.
