EPPJ Boys Defeat Stuart

STUART — Trailing at halftime, Elgin Public-Pope John rallied in the second half to claim a decisive 52 to 36 victory over Stuart Friday night.

The Wolfpack trailed by one point, 26 to 25, at halftime.

Coach Tory Gilson’s team came out for the second half and proceeded to shut down their opponent.

The Wolfpack held Stuart to just two points in the pivotal third quarter as they took a 37 to 28 lead. They continued their mastery over the home team in the fourth quarter by outscoring Stuart 15 to eight to seal the victory.

“I couldn’t be more proud of this group of guys after Friday’s game with Stuart,” Gilson said. 

Starman and sophomore Evan Parks each scored 14 points in the game, Reestman added 11.

The victory boosted EPPJ’s record to 4-6. Stuart fell to 5-7 with the loss.

Newman Grove scored when it mattered most Tuesday night to defeat the Wolfpack 63 to 54.
