Funeral services for James Arthur McKillip age 72 of Neligh were at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 15, 2010 at Grace Lutheran Church in Neligh. Music was provided by Bonnie Reinke, organist.
Burial was in the West Cedar Valley Cemetery in Elgin. Pallbearers were Grandchildren, Alex Oerter, Ethan Oerter, Ryan McKillip, Travis McKillip, Justin Kallhoff, Jennifer Strong, Jessica McKillip, Brittney Kallhoff, and Kendra Kallhoff. Honorary Pallbearers were Jill McKillip, Scott Strong, Aaron Kruger, Eric Kruger, Kayla Kruger, Holly Coover, Candace Coover, and Travis Coover.
Visitation was from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, January 14, 2010 at Snider Memorial Funeral Home in Neligh. James passed away January 12, 2010 at Faith Region Hospital in Norfolk. Snider Memorial Funeral Home of Neligh is handling the arrangements.
James Arthur McKillip was born on January 5, 1938 to Tyler and Frances (Lewis) McKillip in Neligh, Nebraska. James was baptized at Antelope Creek at Elgin. He graduated from Neligh High School with the class of 1954. He was united into marriage to Mary Ann Nelson on May 3, 1959 in Wayne, Ne. On April 17, 1982 was confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in Neligh. James farmed, did various trucking jobs, construction jobs.
His hobbies included working on his John Deere tractors and woodworking. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.
James is survived by his wife Mary Ann McKillip of Neligh, NE. Children: Joni Oerter of Chandler, AZ, Jeffrey and wife Lori McKillip of Polk, NE, Jan and wife Peg McKillip of Kearney, NE, Janet and husband Merle Kallhoff of Elgin, NE. Foster daughter: Nancy and husband Brock Coover of Neligh, NE. Nine grandchildren: Alex, Ethan Oerter, Jennifer Strong and husband Scott, Ryan McKillip and wife Jill, Jessica, Travis McKillip, Justin, Brittney, and Kendra Kallhoff. 1 great grandchild: Clayton McKillip. 3 foster grandchildren: Holly, Travis, and Candace Coover. 3 step grandchildren: Aaron, Kala, and Eric Kruger. Brother: Jerry and wife Wanda McKillip of Elgin, NE. Sister: Julie Engelbart of Inman, NE.
