Kerkman Re-Elected as Chairman of County Supervisors

Elgin’s LeRoy Kerkman will continue to serve as chairman of the Antelope County Board of Supervisors.

During a meeting held Tuesday, Jan. 12, the supervisors re-elected Kerkman to the position.

Merlin Bolling, who held the position until being replaced in 2009, was re-elected as vice chairman.

Supervisors voted on a number of items during the meeting. Among them were:

• Motor grader operator — On a three to four vote, supervisors denied the request of supervisor Charlie Henery to hire Matt Wilkinson as a motor grader operator. Dissenting votes were cast by Kerkman, Bolling and Jerald Schwager. Since supervisor Terry Erb ‘abstained,’ his vote was counted as a dissenting vote due to the tie.

• Unanimous approval — On a 7 to 0 vote, supervisors appointed Bob Snodgrass to the Antelope County Planning Commission. Snodgrass will fill the vacancy created by the resignation of board member Jim Krause. Snodgrass will serve out the remaining two years of Krause’s term.
