Wolfpack Wrestlers Compete at Stanton Invite; Heithoff Gains 100th Victory

STANTON — Four wrestlers from Elgin Public-Pope John brought home medals Saturday from the Stanton Invitational Wrestling Tournament.

Dylan Heithoff won the 189-pound weight class, Beau Henn and Nick Farmer each placed second and Derek Henn finished sixth. For Heithoff, the tournament was extra special as he posted his 100th career victory.

Coach Doug Jones said the competition was very good at the meet. “It was very solid competition,” he said. “We got a little taste of what we may see at districts.” Madison won the team title with 271.5 points followed by Plainview 183, Battle Creek 180, Crofton 152.5, Stanton 146, unattached 114, EPPJ 112, Pender 102, Oakland-Craig 94, West Holt 77, Wakefield 73, Norfolk Catholic 62, Louisville 54, Osmond 36, Laurel-Concord 30, Archbishop Bergan 16, Clearwater/Orchard 13, Scribner-Snyder 10, Hartington CC 3, Stanton JV 0.
