CVA Granted Use of First Street for Corn Storage

An abundant corn harvest and limited storage capacity. Those two factors in a small town often combine to produce corn mountains.

The Elgin City Council Thursday night, in a special meeting, did their part to help with the corn harvest which continues throughout the area and much of the state.

Stan Kallhoff of Central Valley Ag said a need existed at the present time to stock pile grain on the gound. He asked the Council to close First Street between Pine Street and Maple Street.

Following very brief discussion, the Council voted 3 to 0 (Councilman Donnie Mackel was absent) to close the street.

As part of the resolution, First Street will be closed for 60 days.
