Cedar Rapids Tigers Spoil Homecoming for Elgin Eagles

ELGIN — More often than not, size matters in high school football. Cedar Rapids used their size advantage to post a 66 to 30 victory over the Elgin Eagles Friday night.
The Tigers scored 46 points in the first half as they used their size advantage to power their way to the endzone.
That may have been the ultimate outcome. But, on Homecoming Night, the Eagles put a charge into their fans on the game’s first play from scrimmage.
Lining up on their 16-yard line, freshman quarterback Nick Heithoff dropped back and threw the ball deep, into the hands of senior Tyler Johnson who got behind the Tigers’ defense and scampered 64 yards for the game’s first touchdown.
