Progress continues to be made towards the construction of a new parish hall for St. Bonaventure Parish at Raeville.
Just last week, dirt work began on the new hall construction project.
While rain over the weekend may have temporarily slowed down efforts, the parish is moving forward with a planned fundraiser later this month.
The parish is planning a rummage/bake sale to be held Saturday and Sunday, April 30-May 1. Money raised from the event will go towards construction of the building which, when completed, will be 120 feet long and 60 feet wide. The new building will be located south of the parish rectory around the orchard area.
Persons wishing to drop off items for the rummage sale may do so this weekend, April 23-24. On Saturday, volunteers will be at the Raeville Hall from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and again on Sunday after Mass to 5 p.m.
Hours for the rummage/bake sale will be:
Friday, April 29 — 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Saturday, April 30 — 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Sunday, May 1 — 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Church and rectory tours will be available during that time. Old and new items will be for sale and there will be product vendors in the rectory.
Also, a lunch stand will be available for those looking for a bite to eat.
In February, parishioners received approval from Omaha Archdiocese Archbishop George Lucas to go forward with the project. More than two-thirds (nearly $268,000 has been collected/pledged) of the $350,000 has been raised so far.
Other activities planned later this year is a “last” Raeville Dance in June, and a family fun day during the summer.
