Class D-1 all-state running back Andrew Fangman will be putting on the shoulder pads this fall at one of Nebraska’s top state colleges.
Doane College will be the destination for Fangman when he reports for fall football practice.
In early February, Fangman signed a letter-of-intent to play football for the Tigers.
On Tuesday morning, at Pope John High School, Fangman along with his parents, Bill and Ginni were present for a formal signing. Also present for the signing was Doane assistant coach Luke Olson and Wolfpack Coach Randy Eisenhauer.
The event was delayed until Fangman completed the wrestling season, finishing fourth in his weight division at the State Wrestling Championships at CenturyLink Center in Omaha.
Fangman carried the Wolfpack through the 2015 football season, rushing 328 times for 2,439 yards and scoring 39 touchdowns.
Olson said Doane recruited Fangman, in large part, due to his toughness on the football field and the wrestling mats where he was a two-time state medalist.
He said Fangman will play running back in college.
