Gertrude M. Thiem, 95 of Albion, NE passed away Sunday, February 7, 2016 at her home in Albion, NE.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday, February 11, 2016 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Albion, NE with Fr. Stan Schmit officiating.  Interment will follow at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Petersburg, NE. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Levander Funeral Home in Albion.

Gertrude Mary Thiem, the daughter of Henry and Catherine (Raemaker) Schaecher, was born February 1, 1921 at Lindsay, NE. She receieved her education at Lindsay schools. On January 23, 1940, Gertrude was united in marriage to Raymond Thiem at the St. John the Baptist Catholic School chapel. Following their marriage, the couple lived east of Loretto, NE where they farmed.
Gertrude was a housewife and also helped her husband with the farm work. She was an avid bird watcher, a great pie maker, especially apple pies, enjoyed playing pickle cards, and was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Christian Mothers and St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Petersburg, NE as well as St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Albion, NE.
Gertrude is survived by her children: James (Diane) Thiem of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada; Mary (Denis) Dozler of Albion, NE; Tom (Pat) Thiem of Fort Calhoun, NE; Lucy Morgan of Albion, NE; Dick (Jeanette) Thiem of Ashland, NE; 16 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; brother: Harry Schaecher of San Jose, CA; and sister: Rosie Smith of Mount Angel, OR;
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ray; two sons: Bob and Bill Thiem; three brothers; and four sisters.
