Wilfrieda M. Shain, 95 formerly of Elgin, passed away Sunday morning, December 13, 2015 at the St. Joseph Villa in Omaha, NE.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday, December 18, 2015 at St. Boniface Church in Elgin with Reverend Ross Burkhalter officiating.
Interment followed in the parish cemetery.
Huffman-Levander Funeral Home of Elgin is in charge of arrangements.

Wilfrieda Mae Shain, daughter of Charles and Ida (Arehart) Josten, was born June 10, 1920 at Elgin, NE. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Boniface Church in Elgin and attended Elgin High School, graduating in 1938.
On July 12, 1940, Frieda married Lewis G. Shain. To this union, three children were born. The couple farmed in the Elgin area until 1959, when they moved to Elgin where Frieda was a housewife, teacher’s assistant, and cooked at the Boone County Health Center in Albion, NE and Antelope Memorial Hospital in Neligh.
She was a member of St. Boniface Church and St. Boniface Christian Mothers. She was very active in the Elgin VFW Auxiliary, serving as president at both local and district levels. Frieda enjoyed embroidering and spending time with her family, especially when she got the whole family together – kids, grandkids & greats.
Frieda is survived by her daughter Lewrieda Davies of Omaha; one son Tom (Mary) Shain of Whitney, TX; four grandchildren: Brett Beck of Omaha; Sherry (John) VanNice of Monticello, KY; Tara Shain of Barcelona, Spain; Valerie Shain of Phoenix, AZ; five great-grandchildren: Max, Luke, Emerson, Page and Blake; along with cousins, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Lew in 1986; and son David Shain.
