Alvin George “Bud” Mooney, age 86, passed away peacefully, in his home at Water Valley, Windsor, Colorado on Thursday, December 10, 2015.
He was born March 27, 1929 in Boone County, Nebraska to John and Rose Mooney. He spent much of his early life in Elgin, Nebraska and married the love of his life, Rose Mary, in May of 1950.  Their children were all born in Nebraska before moving to Loveland, Colorado in the early 60’s.
Bud is survived by his wife, Rose Mary, children Dori (Bill) Fitzgerald, Bob (Versa) Mooney, Marlene (Martin) Poole, Rita (Ken) Chandler, Debbie (Dave) Munter, all of Colorado, his sister, Mary Bartlett of Bellevue, Nebraska, his brother, George Mooney of Centennial, Colorado, 11 grandchildren, Jenna Starling, Neotha Leslie, Shawna Shearer, Ashley DeKam, Christy McGinn, Katie Meirath, Heather Kahler,  Ben Mooney, Michael Mooney, Monica Chandler and Ryan Chandler, six great grandchildren, Rylee Starling, Kylie McGinn, Owen Leslie, Avery, Miles and Nolan Shearer.  Bud was preceded in death by a son, John and his sister Jeri.
Bud was a loving husband and family man. Among his many talents he built homes and helped all of his children with their construction projects.  He adored making stacks and stacks of pancakes, grilling hamburgers, roasting turkey dinner for all the family, as well as entertaining friends.  He loved cars and finances and spent his entire business life in the auto business.   For many fine years he was general manager of Reynolds Olds, Cadillac and Subaru in Ft. Collins, Colorado retiring as an “automotive accountant” as he liked to say.  His other hobbies included flying his airplane, boating on the “river” in Nebraska and Lake Loveland and camping/traveling around the country in their motor home.
Catholic Mass was held on Monday December 21, 2015 at 11 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 1730 W 12th St. Loveland, Co. A reception at the church followed.
Inurnment will be in Elgin, Nebraska. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pathways Hospice of Northern Colorado. pathways-care.org and/or National Parkinson’s Foundation parkinsons.org
