Eischeid, Schumacher, Bartak Funerals To Be Held

Mary C. Eischeid, 47 of Elgin, NE, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at her parents’ home near Elgin, NE from complications from living with diabetes for 40 years.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 12, 2015 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Elgin, NE with Rev. Ross Burkhalter officiating. Interment will follow at the parish cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00-7:30 p.m. Friday at the church, with a 7:30 p.m. wake service. Huffman-Levander Funeral Home of Elgin, NE is in charge of arrangements.

Mary Christine Eischeid, daughter of Ronald Henry and Linda Jean (Ridder) Eischeid, was born April 9, 1968 at Antelope Memorial Hospital in Neligh, NE. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Boniface Catholic Church. She attended Elgin Public and St. Boniface Schools, graduating from Pope John High School in 1986. She attended Northeast Community College at Norfolk studying business and finance.
Mary worked at Walmart and Menards in Norfolk before returning to Elgin in 2003. She worked at the Jack and Jill store in Neligh until it closed, then worked at The Station, Getz Grocery and Dean’s Market in Elgin. She loved working at Dean’s Market: Dean and Kim Schrage and the people that came in the store were very special to Mary.
She was a member of St. Boniface Church, St. Boniface Altar Society and was a former circle leader. She was a big fan of all sports, but especially Husker Football. She enjoyed reading, seeing Def Leopard and Poison in concert, frogs and her cat Sweet Cheeks.
Mary is survived by her parents Ronald “Red” and Linda Eischeid of Elgin, NE; two brothers: Joe (Jess) Eischeid and Michael (Angie) Eischeid, all of Tilden, NE; one sister: Tammy Seier of Albion, NE; along with numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her sister Stephanie Eischeid in 1993; and her grandparents: Lawrence and Irene Ridder, and Joe and Angela Eischeid.

Margy Bartak

Memorial Services for Margy Bartak age 86 of Neligh, NE will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, December 12, 2015 at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Neligh, with Pastor Janet Davis, Officiating. Music  provided by Mike Schwery. Honorary Pallbearers are Rex Weikel, John Olson, Charles Bartak, Keith Palmer, Bob Eggerling, and Robert Tucker. Burial will be at St. Anthony’s Cemetery, rural Clearwater, NE. Visitation iss 5:00 to 7:00 pm Friday, December 11, 2015 at Beyer Snider Memorial Funeral Home in Neligh, NE.

Margy Anne Bartak was born on October 24, 1929 to Elmer and Ida (Matson) Swanson at Elgin, NE. She attended Elgin High School and graduated with the Class of 1947. She worked at the Plantation Nursing Home.

April, 1949 she married Merland Clark at her parents home. They made their home West of Elgin in Park Center area. To this marriage they had three children, Gary, Lynette, and Dan.

Margy was known for her her beautiful vegetable garden. She went to work at Neligh Nursing Home in Neligh. After a few years she decided to move to Neligh and then she attend Northeast Technical Community College in Norfolk and where she received her LPN degree on August 17,1981. After graduating she worked at the Antelope Memorial Hospital in Neligh.

On July 1,1989 she was united in marriage to Charles “Bud” Bartak. They made their home in Neligh, where she worked at the Hospital and retiring in May, 1992. Margy continued her love of gardening along with her new found hobby of golfing, which she introduced to Bud and they enjoyed golfing together for many years at the Neligh Country Club. Her other loves in life were fishing, spending time with family and friend. Margy was a talented quilter and she made a beautiful quilt for everyone in her family that we will always remember her by. She belonged to the Women’s fellowship at Park Church and member of First Congregational United Church of Christ.

She is survived by her children: Gary (Jane) Clark of Amherst, NE, Lynette (Robert) Tucker of Salt Lake City, UT, and Dan Clark of Kearney, NE. Step children: Judy (Bob) Eggerling of Neligh, Beverly (Rex) Weikel of Sloan, IA, Cathy (Keith) Palmer of Ewing, Charles P (Rita) Bartak of Ewing, and Christine (John) Olson of Bartlett. Grandchildren: Keisha (Tim) Mauler, Amber Grubber, Sean Clark, Tara (Thomas) Mitchell, Kendra (Caleb) Garner, and Simon Tucker. Step grandchildren: Kevin Eggerling, Kara (Joe) Frisbie, Jill (David) Adams, Cathy Weikel, Jean (Randall) Myers, Bryan (Bonnie) Palmer, Sara (Mike) Mahony, Alison (AJ) Kluthe, Luke (Mandy) Palmer, Jay (Jaci) Palmer, Autumn (Todd) Jensen, CJ Bartak, and Tanner Olson. 24 great grandchildren. Sister: Norma Peters of Elgin, NE. Brother, Wayne (Gloria) Swanson of Ogallala, NE. Preceded in death by her parents and husband Bud. Sister, Millie Smith; Brother, Wesley in infancy. Step son, Allan Bartak and step grandson, Brent Weikel.

Kenneth J Schumacher, 75 formerly of Petersburg, NE passed away Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at the Boone County Health Center in Albion, NE.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 14, 2015 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Petersburg, NE with Rev. Stan Schmit officiating. Interment will follow at the parish cemetery with military rites by American Legion Post 334 of Petersburg, NE.  Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday at the church, with a 7:00 p.m. wake service. Huffman-Levander Funeral Home of Elgin, NE is in charge of arrangements.

Kenneth Joseph Schumacher, oldest of seven children to Raymond Joseph and Alvera Mary (Seier) Schumacher, was born May 16, 1940 on the family farm near Raeville, NE. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Bonaventure Church in Raeville, NE, attended elementary school at St. John Berchman School in Raeville and graduated from St. John’s High School at Petersburg, NE in 1959. He entered the United States Army in 1960 and served two years before receiving an honorable discharge. He returned home and began farming.
On October 1, 1962, Ken married Patricia Ann Ketteler at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Petersburg. To this union four children were born: Lynette, Lisa, Keith and Kevin. They made their home on the family farm their entire married life, while Ken continued to farm.
He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Holy Name and the Pope John School Board. He believed strongly in Catholic Education, was very dedicated to school and church activities and fund raising for them. In earlier years, Ken played a lot of slow pitch softball and participated in a number of bowling leagues. He was a hard worker and was committed to taking time out to spend with his family, going skiing and taking trips. He enjoyed fishing and loved taking his grandchildren with him.
Ken is survived by his four children: Lynette Schumacher of Omaha; Lisa (Kevin) Paul of Lincoln; Keith (Diane) Schumacher and Kevin (Lisa) Schumacher, all of Petersburg; eight grandchildren: Jordan and Miranda Paul; Courtney, Sydney and Seth Schumacher; Taylor, Kyle and Kaitey Schumacher; three sisters: Joann (Don) Slater of Omaha; Diane Bailey (Bill) of Neligh; Doris “Pip”(Darrell) White of Nancy, KY; brothers-in-law: Henry (Marilyn) Ketteler; Jim (Rosemary) Ketteler of Atkinson and Morrie Henn of Petersburg; sisters-in-law: Helen (Larry) Borer of Elgin; along with many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Pat in 2009; three siblings Marlene, Gary and Mary Schumacher; sister-in-law Mary “Dolly” Henn and brother-in-law David Knust.
