Elgin Eagles

Football

ELGIN — Top-ranked and #1 seed Elgin had no trouble opening the state playoffs against familiar foe Verdigre.

The Eagles scored the first time they touched the ball and never looked back as they defeated the Hawks 64 to 24 in a game which clearly wasn’t as close as the score might indicate.

Elgin (9-0) will continue their march through the playoffs on Wednesday night (tonight) when they host Wynot at 6 p.m. at Eagle Field. The Eagles defeated Wynot handily in the season opener.

Volleyball

ORCHARD — Elgin and Pope John Central Catholic squared off against one another in the opening round of the NVC Conference Volleyball Tournament Monday night.
