There are traditions within the 91-year-old St. Boniface Thanksgiving Bazaar. One of those traditions is the quilt raffle.
This year’s quilt is done in the pattern, “Wheat Harvest”. The embroidered blocks were made by the late Auralia Meis of Elgin. Marvin and Jodine Meis found the finished blocks when they were going through her home following her passing in 2012 and they donated the blocks to the St. Boniface Quilters. Nancy Shavlik furnished the fabric for the quilt and pieced the top. The fabric is in a harvest pattern consisting of shades of golds, burnt orange and moss greens.
The quilt will be raffled off at Thursday’s St. Boniface Bazaar. Tickets may be purchased at the auditorium.
The St. Boniface Quilters, which Auralia founded in 1975, meets two days a week in the months of September through May.
