Funeral services for Mary K. “Cassie” Verplank, age 86, of Tilden, Nebraska will be 2 p.m. Thursday, August 6, 2015, at Faith United Methodist Church in Tilden. Reverend Ralph Metschke will officiate, with burial in Tilden City Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.
Brockhaus-Harlan Funeral Home in Tilden is in charge of arrangements.
Cassie died Sunday, August 2, 2015, at Prairie View Assisted Living in Tilden.

Mary K. “Cassie” Verplank, daughter of Boyd and Marjorie (Taylor) Shupe, was born October 4, 1928, at Meadow Grove, Nebraska.
Cassie attended Tilden Public School until the tenth grade when she was needed at home to care for her siblings after their mother died.
On November 1, 1946, she was united in marriage to Marcus A. Verplank at Neligh Methodist Church.
Five children were born to them: Marshell, Taresa, Markene, Mark and Timothy.
Cassie was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Tilden, and American Legion Auxiliary in Elgin.
She was a Girl Scout leader and liked making crafts.
Cassie also enjoyed bowling, sewing, gardening, and making things for her grandchildren.
Cassie is survived by her children, Mark (Doris) Verplank of Springview, Illinois, Tarri (Bud) Wilkinson of Elgin, Nebraska, Markene Henry of Norfolk, Nebraska; eight grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.?She was preceded in death by her husband in 2000; her parents; daughter, Marshell and son, Timothy in infancy; sisters, Marjean, Bonnie and Shirley; and brother, Sonny.
