The second annual “Sandhills Sensational Show and Shine,” was held Saturday afternoon August 1st on Main Street in Bartlett. Morning rains put a damper on entries but the sun did show up for the afternoon judging.
Entries from Bartlett included a 1945 John Deere tractor, 1971 Chevy Nova, 1968 Chevy Cheville, 1968 Chevy El Camino ,1994 Mercury Crown, 1979 Lincoln Continental Mark 5, 1973 Chevy Camaro, 1998 Chevy Camaro Z 28 SS( with his daughter’s 2014 Chevy Camaro SS Power Wheel parked beside), 1963 Chevy C-10 pickup and a 1953 Ford V-8 pickup. Entries from other towns included a 1970 Chevy Monte Carlo from Spalding, 1951 Ford F-100 from Grand Island, 1936 Chevy Pickup from Alda, 1953 Ford F-100 pickup from Yankton 1967, Lincoln Continental and 1971 Ford Maverick from Elyria and 1968 Chevy Cheville from Norfolk.
First place winner was Pat McLain of Ewing with a 1953 Ford V-8 pick up. 2nd place winner was Danielle Sich from Elyria with a 1967 Lincoln Continental. Riley Williamson won the “Ugly Car” award with his 1994 Mercury Crown and Mick Scarlett won the tractor award with his 1945 John Deere.
A number of door prizes were given by these Bartlett sponsors; Conrad Tires Plus, Sandhills Steaks and Spirit, Bartlett Motel, Shabby Shed and Company, Cornerstone Bank, Bibs and Boots and the Car Show Committee. Other sponsors were; Bernt Cedar and Signs, , Green Line Equipment and Hill Bills Diesel all of Spalding, Plains Equipment Group, Ord, Ericson State Bank of Ericson, The Parts Bin of NAPA , St. Paul and H and H Distributing of Grand Island.
A portion of the proceeds will go the the Bartlett Fire Department.
Candy Klahn, Rich French and Dan and Diana Williamson of Bartlett are the car show committee who made the show possible. They hope to hold their 3rd annual show next summer
A fair is a time for competition, fun and fellowship. I thoroughly enjoyed visiting with folks I don’t see much anymore. That is truly a blessing.
