Household Hazardous Waste Pickup Set For September

Elgin residents will have the opportunity next month to participate in an event to remove household hazardous waste.
City Clerk Vicki Miller told the Elgin City Council Monday night that she had been notified by the Northeast Nebraska RC & D office in Plainview that they will be sponsoring a household hazardous waste pickup event in Elgin on Saturday Sept. 12.
Between the hours of 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., residents will be able to bring hazardous waste items to a drop off locations.
The cost to the City of Elgin will be $200 to have the event take place, which was approved at the meeting.
Residents bringing items to the pickup site will be asked to make a $10 donation.
“It’s a nice service,” Councilman Mike Dvorak said.
More details about the event will be announced in the coming weeks.
