Work is progressing quickly at Elgin Public School today. A crew from B & S Concrete of Petersburg has removed the old “Cinderella steps” located at the southwest corner of the block. The curved steps were put into place on the school grounds more than 70 years ago (will update this story with the exact year). Plans are for the new steps, identical in design to the previous steps, to be completed in the coming days. E-R photo
