Four Medal At O’Neill Invite

O’NEILL — The Wolfpack girls finished seventh and the boys track team finished ninth at the O’Neill Invitational held Thursday.
Battling some of the best teams in the area, the Wolfpack found success in a variety of events. Leading the way were sophomore Liz Selting who placed third in the triple jump.
Teammate Taylor Schumacher finished third in the pole vault.
Jill Schindler placed in both the 100 and 200 meter dash events.
For the boys, Ryan Pelster led the way with a second place finish in the 1600 meter run. Earlier, Pelster took third in the 3200 meter run.
In the boys team competition, Wausa won with 98 points. followed by Chambers/Wheeler Central 80.5, Creighton 75, Elkhorn Valley 72, North Central 63, Boyd County 47, Bloomfield 32, Humphrey St. Francis 21, EPPJ 17, Clearwater/Orchard 11.5, Ewing 6, Spalding Academy 3 and St. Mary’s 1.
St. Mary’s won the girls team title with 129 points followed by North Central 89, Clearwater/Orchard 69, Creighton 42, Ewing 32, Chambers/Wheeler Central 30, EPPJ 29, Spalding Academy 28, Humphrey St. Francis 27, Boyd County 26, Elkhorn Valley 10, Wausa 9, Niobrara/Verdigre 6 and Bloomfield 1.
