Many Attend Law Enforcement Center Open House

Antelope County residents got a first-hand look at the new home for men and women who break the law and are apprehended.
Two separate open houses were held Saturday, one in the morning and one in the evening, to allow all interested parties to come and tour the new Antelope County Law Enforcement Center which is expected to be in full operation later this month.
The rooms and hallways were full of constant chatter and laughter and the sounds bounced off the concrete walls.  The smell of coffee and cookies where mixed with that “new paint” smell.
Law enforcement officers from the Antelope County Sheriff’s Department as well as the Neligh Police Department led groups through the new facility and answered questions along the way.
Neligh Police Chief Mike Wright said officials have an agreement with Wayne County and are negotiating with Stanton, and Nance counties to house their inmates when the jail is not full, providing an added source of income.
