Wolfpack Win Three Medals At Warrior Invite

NELIGH — Facing the best wrestlers 20 teams had to offer, the Wolfpack wrestling team brought home three medals from the Warrior Invitational held Saturday.
The Wolfpack brought home two third-place medals and one fourth-place medal from the tournament.
Freshman Logan Henn reached the consolation finals in the 106-pound weight class. There, he capped a big day by defeating Dillon Steward of Elkhorn Valley by the score of 21 to four. Henn’s season record is now 18-7.
Junior Ryan Pelster finished third in the 145-pound weight class. In the consolation finals he posted a five to three victory over Breydon Mlady of West Holt. The victory improved Pelster’s season record to 21-6.
Claiming a fourth place medal was Wolfpack junior Andrew Fangman. Competing at 152 pounds, Fangman fell to Riley Dugan of Central Valley by the score of eight to three. The loss dropped Fangman’s record to 16-6. Earlier in the day, Fangman recorded an 18-second pin over Alec Zimmerer of Creighton.
At 120 pounds, Wolfpack wrestler Geoffrey Carr posted a 1-2 record, losing to two wrestlers who medaled. Carr’s highlight of the day came in round three when he recorded one of the fastest pins of the tournament, pinning Wayne’s Yabet Thijillo in just 19 seconds. Carr’s season record is now 6-14.
Amherst won the team title with 255 points, second was Creighton with 142.5. Other team scores were Neligh-Oakdale 124, Randolph 108, Elkhorn Valley 90.5, Central Valley 85, West Holt 78, Wayne 77.5, Scribner-Snyder 59.5, Nebraska Christian 56, Clearwater-Orchard 55.5, EPPJ 54.5, Fullerton 50.5, Osmond 30, North Central 22, St. Mary’s 21, Niobrara-Verdigre 14, Lutheran High Northeast 11, Lindsay Holy Family 7 and Riverside 3.
