Power Review Board Approves Prairie Breeze II Application

Friday was a good day for wind energy in Nebraska, particularly in Antelope County.
The Nebraska Power Review Board (NPRB), after conducting a public hearing, gave preliminary approval for Invenergy to proceed with construction of the county’s second wind farm, Prairie Breeze II.
Timothy Texel, NPRB executive director and general counsel, said following a public hearing held Friday morning, the board approved the application to construct a 73.5 megawatt wind turbine electric generation facility to be located north and east of Elgin.
Texel said by granting preliminary approval, Invenergy can proceed with all necessary steps to move forward with construction of the wind farm. Invenergy officials have said they expect to begin construction of Prairie Breeze II this summer. He said a written order granting final approval will be issued in less than 60 days for the wind farm.
