Mary Helen Schrage, 82 of Elgin, passed away Thursday, January 8, 2015 at the Golden Living Center in Neligh.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday morning, January 12, 2015 at St. Boniface Church in Elgin, with Rev. Ross Burk-halter offici-ating. Interment followed at the parish cemetery.
Huffman-Levander Funeral Home of Elgin was in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to St. Boniface Church, St. Boniface School and Pope John Central Catholic School. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.huffmanlevander.com.

Mary Helen Schrage, daughter of Albert & Ann (Overmohle) Fritz was born on March 3, 1932 at Elgin, NE.
She was baptized and confirmed at St. Boniface Church, attended St. Boniface High School and graduated in 1949.
After graduation, Mary Helen worked Monday’s in the office of the Elgin Livestock Commission and part-time at the 2 x 4 Café.
On August 17, 1953, Mary Helen married Alvin Schrage at the St. Boniface Church in Elgin.  They lived on the family farm near Elgin where they were blessed with three children:  Deb, Sherri and Mark.  They moved to town in 1987.
Mary Helen relocated to the Willows in Neligh, in July of 2013.
She entered the Golden Living Center in July of 2014, where she passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2015.
Mary Helen loved farming with Al, quilting and sewing, playing cards, traveling with life-long friends Ray and Leora Dinslage and singing in the choir.
She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-children and having tea parties with them.
She was a loving and tender caregiver to Al during his illness.
Mary Helen was a lifetime member of St. Boniface Church, a former member of the Choir, St. Boniface Christian Mothers and the Domestic Arts Club.
She is survived by her children: Deb (Kyle) Warren of Elgin, NE; Sherri (Dave) Peterson of Norfolk, NE, Mark (Brenda) Schrage of Elgin; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister: Juan Hoefer of Elgin, one brother: Paul (Joan) Fritz of Owensboro, KY, one brother & sister in-law Urb & Celine Schrage of Salinas, CA and sister-in-law Dorothy Schrage of Red Oak, IA; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Mary Helen was preceded in death by her husband Alvin, son-in-law Terry Zegers; grandson Andrew Peterson; brother-in-laws: Hubert, Clarence, Gilbert, Wilfred, &  Art Schrage, Leonard Hoefer and Robert Lee, sister-in-laws Philomena Lee, Annabel Schrage, Margaret Schrage and Joanie Fritz
