Lawrence N. Goscha, 87 of Neligh, passed away at his home.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday at St. Fran-cis Catholic Church in Neligh, with Rev. John Broheimer officiating. Interment followed in St. The-resa’s Catholic Cemetery at Clearwater, with military rites by American Legion Post #267 of Clearwater.

Lawrence Nicholas Goscha was born November 13, 1925 near Clearwater, NE. He was one of 13 children born to Nicholas J and Frances B. (Zimmerman) Goscha. He was baptized and confirmed in St. Theresa’s Catholic Church at Clearwater, attended country grade schools and graduated from Clearwater High School in 1942.
Lawrence helped his parents farm until enlisting in the U.S. Navy in 1944. Following an honorable discharge, he returned home to farm with his parents until his father had a farm sale in 1948. He worked construction for a while and then went back to farming with his brother Joe. When he started renting his land out, he worked in real estate sales for a number of years. He moved to Neligh in 2012.
Lawrence is survived by three sisters: Mildred Simmons of Neligh; Lucy Allemang of Neligh; Jean Goscha of Norfolk; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: Joe, Martin and Jerome Goscha; six sisters: Helen Dewey, Cecilia Raeside, Christina Goscha; Gail Doyle, Margaret Shavlik, and Joan Goscha.
The Nebraska State 4-H Archery Tournament in conjunction with the High School 3D Archery Tournament were held June 8-9 at the Norfolk Archery Range.
Students competed in the 3D tournament on Saturday which consisted of 20 stations with 2 animals at each.
On Sunday the students aimed their arrows at targets for 15 rounds.
Those participating from the Elgin area were Alex Grosserode, Jon Meis, Kalin Henn, Chad Bode, Erin Beckman, Liz Selting, Marie Meis, and Ally Selting.
Taking third place in the Nebraska State High School 3D Archery Tournament on Saturday was the Elgin team of Jon Meis, Kalin Henn, and Morgan Carpenter.
Melodie and Justin Puffer of Roseville, Calif., are the parents of a son, Colin Lee who was born 3:49 a.m. Saturday, June 1, 2013 at the Kaiser Permanente Roseville Medical Center. He weighed seven pounds eight ounces and was 20 inches long.
Maternal grandparents are Bob and Karen Koenig of Elgin.
Paternal grandparents are Dan and Julie Puffer of Fremont.
Great grandparents are Rose Smartt of Omaha, Bob and Marilyn Packard of Huron, S.D., and the late Ben and Jean Koenig of Elgin.

Adopted the resolution designating the Antelope County Sheriff’s office as the Animal Control Authority for Antelope County and set a committee of three supervisors to review each complaint.

NOTICE TO IRRIGATORS
You are herewith informed that Section 39-703 of the Nebraska Statutes, 1975 session laws, provides that it is unlawful to divert water onto or across a public road so as to saturate, wash or impair the maintenance, construction, or pass ability of such public road and that upon conviction thereof such person shall be punished by a fine for every such offense of not less that $10.00 nor more than $100.00. Provided, this section shall not apply under the following conditions:
(1) When the damage has been caused by a mechanical malfunction of the irrigation equipment,
(2) When a sprinkler irrigation system had been set so that under normal weather conditions no water would have been placed upon the right of way of any road, or
(3) When the County Board grants permission to the land owner to divert water along a county road right of way or when a municipality has granted such permission.
You are further notified that the County Board of Supervisor’s intends that the above stated law shall be enforced and that any persons having a complaint for violation of the above stated irrigation law may make a proper complaint to either the County Sheriff or the County Attorney.
