Notice is hereby given that pursuant to Section 53-135.01, a liquor license may be automatically renewed for one year from November 1, 2011 for the following retail Class C licensee to-wit:
Boomerangs, 108 North Second Street, Elgin, Antelope County, Nebraska.
Notice is hereby given that written protests to the issuance of automatic renewal license may be filed by any resident of the City of Elgin, on or before Aug. 10, 2011, in the office of the City Clerk; that in the event protests are filed by three or more such persons, a hearing will be held to determine whether continuation of said license should be allowed.

Elgin’s Jr. PeeWee team won third place at the Elkhorn Valley 12 team tournament boys 10 & under. Mildred J. Borer
1915 - 2011
Mildred J. Borer, 95 of Albion, NE, passed away Thursday, July 14, 2011 at the Boone County Health Center in Albion.
Mildred Josephine Borer, the daughter of Jens Edward and Emma Haave Paulson was born on April 21, 1916 on a Boone County farm 10 miles north of Albion. She was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church (South Branch). She attended Boone County school District #62, and graduated from Albion High School in 1933 with Normal Training.
On October 12, 1943, Mildred was united in marriage to Dennis H. Borer at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Albion. They lived on a farm in rural Boone County near Albion. Mildred taught school in rural Boone County Schools, St. Bonaventure Catholic School at Raeville, and St. Michael’s Catholic School in Albion. In 1968 she moved into Albion. Mildred continued her education at Wayne State College, receiving her degree in 1973.
She was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Petersburg, and St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Albion along with St. Michael’s Altar Society. Along with entertaining people as a member of the Elkhorn Valley Fiddlers, she enjoyed playing the piano and accordion, writing poetry, and writing the family newsletter.
Surviving Mildred are her children: Dianne Salber of Elgin; Donna Bennett of Grand Island; Dennis Borer (Mary Lou) of Albion; 4 grandchildren: Rolley Bennett (Julie), Darren Bennett (Lynn), Dawn Borer Stevenson (Cody), Shannon Borer and 3 great-grandchildren: Nick, Mary and Cara Bennett.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dennis in 1976, son-in-law Willie Salber and one sister Eileen Jacobson.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, July 18, 2011 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Albion with Fr. Stan Schmit and Fr. John Hagemann officiating. Lector was Rolley Bennett. Servers were Jacob Nore and Ethan Young. Organist was Jill Nore. Casket bearers were Nick Bennett, Rolley Bennett, Darren Bennett, A. J. Jacobson, Harlan Jacobson and Jerry Hageman.
Interment followed at St. Michael’s Cemetery in Albion. Levander Funeral Home of Albion is in charge of arrangements.

1921 - 2011
Eileen Dicke, 90, of Columbus, Nebraska (formerly of Creston, Nebraska) died Wednesday, July 13, 2011, at Mory’s Haven in Columbus.
The funeral services were held on Saturday, July 16 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, rural Leigh, with Rev. Dr. Marsha Jark-Swain officiating.
Interment was in the St. Paul’s Cemetery.
Eileen Ruth Dicke was born February 1, 1921, to Herman and Lucia (Michelsen) Hillen on the family farm near Leigh, Nebraska. She attended rural elementary school and graduated from Leigh School as valedictorian of her class. She worked at the ASC office in Columbus before being united in marriage on October 10, 1940, to John Dicke in Hooper, Nebraska. They farmed all their lives in the Creston area.
Eileen was a life-long member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and enjoyed the Luther League activities during her teen years. Her favorite activities included ice skating, dancing at Welch’s Hall, especially to the “Blue Skirt Waltz”, tending a large garden, canning, sewing for her family, quilt making for missions, raising chickens, baking bread and award winning pies using a wood-burning stove during her earlier years.
She took great pride in her “spick & span” clean farmhouse and beautiful garden and was known for never having a hair out of place (with the help of egg whites during the depression years, and that is no yolk).
Eileen is survived by: Son: Allen Dicke of Creston, NE; Daughter: Ruth (Robert) Brichacek of Columbus, NE; Son: Dale (Judy) Dicke of Creston, NE; Son: Paul (Diane) Dicke of Ewing, NE; Granddaughter: JoLynn (Jason) Ratzlaff of Clarkson, NE; Grandson: Matt Brichacek of Livermore, CO; Granddaughter-in-law: Kristy Brichacek of Columbus, NE; Grandson: Travis (fiancee Jennifer Machacek) Dicke of Creston, NE; Granddaughter: Keri Brichacek of Columbus, NE; Granddaughter: Tarryn (Michael) Hickman of Smithville, MO; Grandson: Waylan (Kayla) Dicke of Creston, NE; Granddaughter: Tricia (David) Kersting of Creston, NE; Granddaughter: Tambri (Clint) Paulsen of Atchinson, KS; Granddaughter: Karissa Dicke of Ewing, NE; Great Grandchildren: Jaedyn, Jordyn, & James Ratzlaff; Great Grandchildren: Katelyn & Joseph Brichacek; Great Grandchildren: Remi & Milo Brichacek; Great Grandson: Coen Hickman; Great Granddaughter: Kenna Dicke; Sister-in-law: Dorothy Hillen of Clarkson, NE; Sister-in-law: Nadine Hillen of Leigh, NE; Sister-in-law: Elva Dicke of Columbus, NE; Sister-in-law: Verna Dicke of Columbus, NE; and Brother-in-law: Leonard (Katherine) Dicke of Columbus, NE.
Eileen was preceded in death by: Parents: Herman & Lucia Hillen;
Husband: John Dicke; Son: Raymond Dicke; Grandson: Nathan Dicke; and Brothers: Walter & Gordon Hillen.
