Village of Oakdale, Nebraska (Pop. 322-Antelope County), seeks a Village full time Maintenance/Utility Superintendent. Individual is to coordinate, oversee, manage and assist in the operation of all departments. Departments include General Government, Street, Water, Park, and Wastewater. Certification in wastewater and water are desired but the Village is willing to train. Water system will require Grade IV Water Operator certification along with Wastewater System will require Lagoon certification, but successful applicant may acquire this certification and others as needed in a timely basis. Pearl Moore

Pearl M. Moore

1911 - 2011

Pearl Mae (Schrunk) Moore, daughter of John and Mabel (Gull) Schrunk, was born May 14, 1911 at Atkinson, NE. She attended school in the Atkinson area and graduated from Atkinson High School. Pearl was baptized and confirmed into the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in 1931.

On March 28, 1932, Pearl was united in marriage to Orlen “Dukes” Moore.

The couple worked for Ed Kennedy for three years, after which they went to work for Wolf Bros. Ranch in Wheeler County for 13 years, where Pearl cooked meals for all the ranch hands. They moved to Clearwater for two years while Dukes was in the trucking business, before moving to the Wolf Farm at Albion for three years. They then bought a ranch west of Petersburg where they lived for 18 years before retiring to their home in Elgin in 1972.  After the death of her husband, Pearl later moved to Neligh.

Pearl passed away Monday, June 13, 2011 at the Golden Living Center in Neligh.

Pearl is survived by one son: Bill Moore and wife Kathy of Sidney, NE; four grandchildren: Jonathan Moore of Vail, CO; William Benda and wife Sabina of Omaha, NE; Kelley Redding and husband Terry of Omaha, NE; Daniel Benda and special friend Courtney of Dallas, TX; two great-grandchildren: Michelle and Patrick Benda of Omaha; one sister Lois Reis of Carthage, MO; along with other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Orlen “Dukes” Moore in 1986; daughter Linda Morton in 2008; son-in-law Merrill Morton; four brothers: Francis, Earl, John, and Ralph Schrunk; six sisters: Ina Roth, Ida Boles, Ethel Rzeszotarski, Mabel Banks, Ruth Andrus and Lusetta Alton.

Funeral services were Friday, June 17, 2011 at the Community of Christ Church in Clearwater, NE, with Marvin Morsbach officiating.

Internment followed at the All Saints Cemetery near Clearwater. Condolences may be sent to www.huffmanlevander.com.

14 & Under Girls Softball Season Underway

Elgin’s 14 & Under softball team opened the season May 31 at Creighton, falling 9 to 2.

Jenna Parks pitched for Elgin, striking out one and walking eight.

On June 1, Norfolk came to Elgin and won the game 4 to 1. Jenna Parks and Taylor Schumacher each had a single for Elgin. Kayla Nelson handled the pitching duties for Elgin, walking five and striking out two.

On Friday, June 3, O’Neill defeated visiting Elgin 11 to 3 in game one. Jenna Parks had a single and Taylor Schumacher had a double. Jenna Parks pitched, walking 10 and striking out two. In the second game with O’Neill, Elgin came up on the short end of a 10 to 5 score. Tori Starman had a double and Morgan Childers had a single for Elgin. Kayla Nelson pitched the second game, walking five and striking out one.

On June 16, Elgin traveled to Norfolk and took an 8 to 7 loss. Getting hits for Elgin were Tori Starman and Baylie Schiltmeyer with a single each. Handling the pitching duties for Elgin was Kayla Nelson. She walked two and struck out five.

Notice is hereby given that the County Board of Supervisor’s of Antelope County, Nebraska will hold meetings in the County Supervisor’s room in the Antelope County Courthouse Annex, Neligh, Nebraska on the following dates and times:

July  5, 2011 at 9:00 AM

July 12, 2011 at 8:00 AM

Meetings will be open to the public.  An agenda, kept continuously current, is available for public inspection at the Antelope County Clerk’s office and may be modified at such meeting to include items of an emergency nature pursuant to Section 84-1411 of the Nebraska Revised Statutes.
