PJCC Homecoming Royalty Crowned

Pope John Central Catholic seniors Angie Pelster and Dylan Heithoff were crowned the 2009 Homecoming Queen and King during coronation ceremonies held on Wednesday evening.  The evening’s events were capped off by a bonfire near the practice field. Pope John will be facing Newman Grove on Saturday for the Homecoming Game.

Punt, Pass & Kick Competition is Sunday!

Elgin youth will want to set aside Sunday afternoon, Sept. 20, to compete in the annual Punt, Pass & Kick competition.

Registration for the event, to be held at the Elgin football field, will begin at 1 p.m. with competition to follow after everyone is registered.

Open to boys and girls, competition will take place in the following age groups: 6-7, 8-9, 10-11, and 12-13.

Winners in the competition will advance to the district competition to be held at Ewing on Sunday, Sept. 27.

Northeast Plans Agriculture Conference for Women in November

No matter what their role, women in agriculture can fulfill it with more confidence and knowledge after attending a one-day conference at Northeast Community College. 

The conference, Ag-ceptional Women, is Friday, November 20th, from 8:00 A.M. - 5:30 P.M. in the Lifelong Learning Center on the Northeast Campus in Norfolk. 

Bonnie Schulz, Northeast agricultural instructor, and Corinne Morris, associate dean of the Agriculture, health and science division, are conference directors.

H1N1: Know What To Do About the Flu

The H1N1 flu virus is dominating the news right now.  There is so much information out there that it’s difficult to know what’s the most important.

Here’s what to know:

The H1N1 virus is contagious and is spread mainly from person to person through coughing or sneezing by infected people. Sometimes people may become infected by touching something – such as a surface or object – with flu viruses on it and then touching their eyes, mouth or nose.

The symptoms of novel H1N1 flu virus in people include fever over 100 degrees, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue.

Wagner Attends Annual LaMarche National
