Jeana Simons and Ryan Ahlers will exchange wedding vows at 2 p.m. on August 29, 2009, at St. Bonaventure Church in Raeville. The dance will take place at the Neligh Legion Club at 8:00 p.m..
The bride-elect, the daughter of Dave and Rose Simons of Creighton, graduated from Creighton High School in 2000. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training from Dakota Wesleyan University and her Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Nebraska Medical Center. She is employed at Plainview Area Health Systems as a Physician Assistant.
The prospective groom is the son of Steve and Kathy Ahlers of Clearwater. He graduated from Clearwater High School in 1996. He is employed on the family farming and ranching operation in Clearwater.
The Elgin Twirlers’ final performance of the summer was held at the Elgin Community Center on Aug. 4. They spent their final practice, on Aug. 6, playing balloon games and eating ice cream cones.
The Kinney Family Reunion was held in Elgin July 31 through August 2 with the Roland Kinney family serving as hosts. Forty-five members attended from Arizona, Georgia, Illinois, Colorado, Ohio and Nebraska.
The group enjoyed various activities. Some went golfing while others visited Ashfall and the fish hatchery. Some attended events at the Antelope County Fair. They all got together for the evening meals at the Kinney residence. On Sunday morning they attended the church service at Park Church followed by a catered dinner in the church basement.
David Currie presented a celebration of the life of his son, Devon, who lost his battle with cancer in December 2008. The display of family pictures in the church basement was enjoyed very much. The oldest couple present were Wayne and Dorothy (Kinney) Currie. youngest attendees were Brooke Kinney and Lillianne Kinney, both born in 2008.
The family of Phyllis Beckman gathered Sunday, August 2 at the Good Samaritan Home in Albion to help her celebrate her 75th Birthday.
Those visiting with Phyllis were Ron and JoAnn Beckman and Jenna of Elgin, Brian Beckman and Julie and Tom Krause of Petersburg, Jim and Judy Havel, Brandi, Cody and Jamie of Bartlett, Brady Dexter of Chambers, Bob and Janice Pelster, Wesley, Caleb and Corin of Bartlett and Rebecca and Nate Flider of Columbus.
The afternoon was spent visiting and enjoying pizza, cake and ice cream.
An Elgin man is recuperating at home after suffering second-degree burns last week.
Gary Beckman suffered burns on both arms, his neck and parts of his face while burning trees on his property Wednesday afternoon.
