Mackels to Celebrate 50th Anniversary with Open House

The family of Betty and Lyle Mackel are hosting a Fiftieth Wedding Anniversary Open House in their honor this Sunday, August 2, 2009. 

The open house will be held from 2 to 4 pm at the Elgin Community Center.  They request no gifts please. 

Lyle and Betty were married on September 15, 1959 at St. John’s Church in Petersburg.

Their family includes children, Cheryl and Dave, and Dale and Theresa as well as seven grandchildren.

Heithoff Handles Opponents As Disney Duals Tournament

The reigning Class D Wrestling 189-pound state champion, Pope John’s Dylan Heithoff has not been resting on his laurels.

This summer he has been competing against some of the best wrestlers from across the country, honing his skills in hopes of being a repeat state champion during his senior season.

Heithoff was selected to compete this summer in the Disney Duals AAU competition held in Orlando, Fla. The competition was held June 22-26 at the Disney Sports Complex.
