“Christ in the Passover” - A Jews for Jesus Presentation To be Held at Peace United Church in Tilden on April 7
What do the Jewish Passover and Jesus’ Last Supper have in common? Avi Snyder, speaking on behalf of Jews for Jesus, will answer that question at a presentation called “Christ in the Passover” at the Peace United Church of Christ in Tilden, Nebraska on, Tuesday, April 7th at 6:30 PM. Snyder is the European Director of Jews for Jesus, overseeing the work of the ministry in Europe and in the former USSR. Jews for Jesus uses creative methods and contemporary issues to present the message that Jesus is the Messiah to Jewish people around the world.
Fourteen students from Elgin and Pope John High Schools were recently selected for the 2008-09 winter Academic All-State awards by the Nebraska School Activities Association. The NSAA program recognizes students who meet the criteria for nomination by their school in the season the activity takes place.
Meals to be served next week at the Elgin Community Center have been announced. They are:
Monday, March 30: Cook’s choice, milk.
Tuesday, March 31: Meat loaf, baked potato, green beans, peaches, bread, pear cobbler, milk.
Wednesday, April 1: Chicken, mashed potato, corn, tropical fruit, bread, apple cake, milk.
Thursday, April 2: BBQ pork, mashed potato, carrots, pineapple, sandwich bread, chocolate cake, milk.
Friday, April 3: Tuna & noodles, scalloped potato, peas, cole slaw, bread, celery peanut butter, milk.
Please call 843-2727 by 9 a.m. for a meal reservation. All ages are welcome.
For those under 60, the cost of the meal is $5.
We also do carry outs.
For a great meal, come on in or take it to go. The Center starts serving at 11:45 a.m.
Concordia University, Nebraska’s Academy for Excellence will host more than 50 academically gifted, middle-school students and their parents on Friday, April 17, for a day-long program and celebration banquet. The event will recognize the students for their achievements and challenge them with a collegiate learning experience. The students, each nominated by a teacher or principal, were selected from private and parochial schools in Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota and South Dakota.
